While my initial education included teaching in secondary schools and at TAFE, I have for the last 25 years lectured in educational and organisational psychology at University whilst running my private practice as a Registered Psychologist. I am currently completing a PhD in Psychology.

The clients in my private practice at North Sydney include individuals, families, employers and employees who are concerned with a range of issues from personal psychological worries, anxieties and depression,  to educational guidance and vocational planning and to workplace problems.

My practice has always been varied, using different therapeutic techniques as appropriate. They are, however, predominantly solution based that focus on the use of cognitive strategies to better manage everyday life, family and workplace situations. These cognitive strategies have increasingly integrated aspects of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy which have been particularly helpful in depression and grief counselling.

In 2002 I was successful in achieving the Practitioner's Certificate in Mediation and Conciliation from the Australian Institute of Arbitrators and Mediators. This has led to a particular interest in conflict resolution in a wide range of situations from couples and family tensions to workplace relations.

I am also particularly interested in group therapy and run adolescent and parent group sessions.

I have a very practical approach to my practice and am most concerned with the application of psychological theory to improving personal wellbeing and relationships by identifying strengths and goals and developing strategies that reduce stress, improve communication and allow individuals and couples to reach those goals.
